The job which we requested from Tim involved the replacement of decking boards on a garden structure which was built 30 years ago. It was not a complex job, as others reviewed here, but we were very impressed that Tim's workmanship and attention to detail were of the highest standard. He took steps to ensure that the joists and new decking boards were isolated from the soil beneath to prevent future deterioration. As the maintenance manager of a small housing co-op I can honestly say that he was a dream contractor. He arrived when he said he would arrive, caused minimal disruption, ensuring all waste was removed and leaving the site clean and tidy at the end of each working day. Tim was very hard working, arriving early and leaving late to ensure the job was completed on time. We are very happy with the completed deck which looks grand. ~ Peggy G

Tim and Alpaca built our new garden studio, finalising it at the beginning of this year. We couldn’t be happier with it! Tim grasped our brief early and delivered something that was beyond what we would have predicted for the space we have. It is spacious, stylish and perfect for what we need. It has transformed the way we work, and means we now have additional, multi-functional space. The quality of craftsmanship also deserves comment - it is clearly built to a high standard, feels sturdy and robust and holds heat well. This year Tim of Alpaca, completed the final project of our house - a wonderful new garden room / workshop! The work was completed with a high level of experience in construction, materials and design. Tim had many wonderful ideas and ideas along the way. He and his team were a pleasure to spend time with. Tim makes a lot of bespoke items, he created an incredible barn door for my workshop. I now have a modern garden room to work from home and a workshop to tinker around in - the dream! We started to think about a garden room because our cheap wooden summerhouse and garden shed were reaching the end of their life and needed replacing. Also we needed somewhere to overwinter tender garden plants which suffered in the wet & cold last year. Alpaca responded positively to our enquiry and listened carefully to what we wanted. Their “green” ethos impressed us and their proffered design matched our price point. Tim, Dave and the team were pleasant, trustworthy & hardworking, generally a pleasure to have around. Because our garden is well established with little in the way of clear space, on-site storage of materials was a problem but they managed their workspace with minimal damage to the existing landscape and planting. We wish we’d given more thought to the garden store section which is long and thin - but it does the job. We’re very pleased with the end result. We have a beautiful garden room, well insulated & ventilated, full of light, perfect for overwintering tender plants and summer lounging, both. ~ Harry L

We have an absolutely beautiful garden room thanks to Alpaca. They were very easy to work with and really flexible and attentive, at a reasonable price.We wanted a bespoke corten steel cladding, which Tim took great care to source, and looks beautiful now. We're thrilled with our fabulous new summer house/multi purpose living space at the bottom of our garden. Having day dreamed about it for years, we finally decided to find a local company which would be able to provide a totally bespoke garden room, underpinned by a sustainability-focused approach. Right from our initial chats through to the completion of the project (and the after care), Tim has been superb to deal with. He really understood what we were looking for and was able to tailor the build to our exact requirements. Throughout the project Tim's communication was excellent, and his highly skilled team were unfailingly friendly and polite to have around. Having built the garden room of our dreams, Tim was then able to build a garden shed behind it to fit a really odd shape - it's a really fab and useful solution. The final result, with its beautiful living roof, gives us a really exciting space for relaxing, hosting visitors, and for our children to play in. It gives us valuable extra space, at a fraction of the cost of moving house! We can't wait to use it this summer, and because it's so well insulated we'll take great joy in using it all year round. ~ Thomas B

We hired Tim to build a shed/studio in our back garden last year. We can’t recommend Tim highly enough. Initially, we looked at big manufacturers of garden rooms. However, we were frustrated by their insulation values and their use of synthetic insulation material. What’s more, where their structures were well-insulated, they seemed to pay insufficient attention to the necessary ventilation. We wanted a very highly insulated garden office, and we wanted to use wood fibre insulation (rather than heavily processed synthetic material) in order to keep the room cool in summer and warm in winter. Tim’s green credentials and building techniques made him the perfect fit for our project. His bespoke build allowed us to make maximum use of the limited space available, right down to the smallest of things, and he spent plenty of time carefully talking us through the design process, ensuring that we got exactly what we wanted. When construction eventually started, he was fastidious in his attention to detail, always wanting perfection. He and his supporting cast of helpers were not only exceptionally hard-working, but also highly conscientious and a pleasure to have around. By the end of the summer, they were almost part of the family. We’ve just experienced our first winter, and the office has been toasty warm with minimal heating – exactly as we’d hoped! ~ charlotte h
